Building technology for the real world

Software engineer & entrepreneur focused on modernizing traditional industries through integrated technology solutions.

About

I build software that solves real problems. The kind that people actually encounter when traditional systems can't keep up with modern expectations. My focus is on creating technology that removes friction from overlooked industries—not by replacing what works, but by streamlining operations in ways that help everyone involved do better work.

Currently building Settl, a platform for the logistics industry that connects moving companies with their customers through integrated technology. The moving process shouldn't feel like stepping back in time, and dual-sided platforms have proven they can transform how entire industries operate. That's the approach I'm taking with logistics.

I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Computer Science, where I developed a foundation across full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, and systems programming. Teaching has always been part of how I learn—as a Teaching Assistant and mentor on platforms like Exercism, explaining concepts to others forces you to understand them at a deeper level. It's satisfying work.

Outside of Settl, I contribute to open-source projects, particularly in cloud infrastructure and security tooling. Recent work includes optimizations for AWS security incident response integrations, where understanding performance at scale becomes important even if the problems don't seem obvious at first. Small improvements in database queries matter when systems grow beyond initial expectations.

My approach to building is practical. Start with the problem, understand who experiences it and why, then build something that actually addresses it rather than adding complexity for its own sake. The best solutions often aren't the most technically impressive—they're the ones people can actually use to get their work done.

If you're working on something interesting or want to discuss ideas around modernizing traditional industries, reach out. I'm always interested in conversations with people building real solutions.
